Ruth Werts celebrates 95 years

Ruth Espenmiller was born April 2, 1912, the same day that the famed RMS Titanic left Belfast, Ireland for sea trials.

The Titanic would sink later 12 days later.

Ruth Espenmiller Werts enjoyed her 95th birthday celebration last Thursday at the home in which she was raised. She will always relate her birth year to the famous Titanic story.

Pictured are Ruth and son Kurt Werts. About 50 friends, neighbors and family members joined her for cake and remembrances in the 321 West Avenue home, now owned by her son Kurt, and his wife Linda.

Both Ruth and her late husband Frank were teachers in the Newark School system. They raised their family at the homestead before moving across the street several years ago. Ruth moved to Ashton Place in Clifton Springs last fall.
