Clyde/Savannah scouts celebrate Juliette Gordon-Low, the founder of Girl Scouts, would be proud that the girls of Clyde and Savannah are following the tradition and service she started 95 years ago in Savannah, Georgia. To celebrate the 95th Anniversary of Girl Scouts, many activities were held during Girl Scouts Make the World a Better Place Week last month. On Girl Scout Sunday, several community parishes recognized and blessed the hard work and dedication of the girls and leaders. An Open House was held at the Galen Brick Church Museum, where displays showing the history and accomplishments of Girls Scouts of today and tomorrow filled the museum. Approximately 100 people enjoyed refreshments and the wide variety of pictures, memorabilia, and projects of the Clyde-Savannah Girl Scouts. Annually this event is held during Girl Scout week, and the whole community is welcome to attend. Additionally, to serve the community, the girls collected food for the local food cupboards. Drop boxes were placed at local businesses, the museum, and schools in Clyde and Savannah. The food collected was presented to three food cupboards in the community, just in time for the Easter holiday. To end Girl Scout week, there was a Pig-Out Roller Skating party for friends and family at the Reva Rollerdrome in Auburn on Girl Scout Saturday. The girls look forward to this event every year. They have fun skating and eating as much pizza, snow-cones, and popcorn as they want. The festivities of the week all promoted a sense of pride, community, history, and celebrated the power of Girl Scouts. Events like these help the community to understand how important Girl Scouting is. For 95 years Girl Scouts has been there to encourage the growth of our daughters. The Clyde-Savannah Service Unit would like to thank the community, parents, and leaders for your support. There is no better way to say it; Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Copyright
