Lyons teens fast to fight world hunger Teens representing area schools and youth groups will participate in World Vision's 30-Hour Famine - getting a real taste of hunger to help feed and care for children living in extreme poverty around the world. They join half a million teens nationwide aiming to raise $12 million to fight world hunger. Now in its 16th year, World Vision's 30 Hour Famine raises awareness and money to fight hunger overseas and in the United States. During the 30 hours, participating teens go without food (consuming only liquids), learn about world hunger and poverty, and perform community service projects. Teens participate in groups through schools, churches, youth groups, and civic organizations. The fast will take place April 20 and 21 (from 2:15 p.m. Friday to 6:15 p.m. Saturday) at the Lyons Presbyterian Church. Service projects throughout the area include preparing lunches for the needy. Sponsored by the Lyons Inter-Church Council, there will be 35 participants. For information call Kris Vanderlinde, 521.9530. Copyright
