Meeting at Hotchkiss

The Lyons Heritage Society will meet on Monday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in the Hotchkiss building on Water Street in Lyons.

The speaker for the evening will be historian Jane Oakes from Caledonia, NY. She will be speaking on Opera Houses. This slide presentation takes a look at these buildings that were an important part of the cultural activity of the small town. Nearly every village had some sort of hall, ballroom or opera house.

Oakes has a Masters in History from SUNY Brockport and the program is based on her extensive research for over four years. She will also be presenting an illustrated talk at the Landmark Society Of Western New York's May 5th Preservation Conference in Leroy, NY.

There will be a business meeting conducted by Lyons Heritage Society's new president, Chris Davis. Several important items will be discussed. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
