Free concert in Newark The innovative Counter Induction will perform chamber music at free concert April 21 at 7 p.m. in the Newark High School auditorium. As part of its Encounters with New Music series, designed to reach a much broader audience for music by living composers, including kids and residents of rural areas - Counter Induction has a unique gift of bringing audiences into the music through its engaging outreach and interactive presentations Recognized for its high-caliber performances, Counter Induction has established itself as a major force in contemporary music. The group has been hailed by the New York Times for its fiery ensemble virtuosity and for its first-rate performances. Since emerging in 1998 from a series of collaborations between graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania and the Juilliard School, Counter Induction has premiered numerous pieces by both established and younger emerging American composers including Eric Moe, Suzanne Sorkin, Ursula Mamlok, and Lee Hyla. This concert is part of Encounters with New Music, a collaborative project between CLCMF and Strong National Museum of Play supported in part with grant funding from the New York State Music Fund, established by the New York State Attorney General at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
