Charged with drug possession, sale

Matthew ShermanOn April 18, WayneNET members, acting on arrest warrants issued by Newark Justice Dan Barrett, arrested Matthew Sherman, 21, of 346 Murray Street, Newark, and charged him with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, all class B felonies.

Sherman was arraigned by Justice Barrett and released on $1000 cash bail. He will return to Newark Village Court on May 2 to answer charges.

The arrest follows investigations done pursuant to the 'Operation Impact Tools Initiative Grant' awarded to WayneNET. The grant allows WayneNet members to continue their efforts at reducing violent crime and drug trafficking within Wayne County in targeted areas.
