'Clean Sweep' planned in Williamson

A Clean Sweep will be held in Williamson the week before the Apple Blossom Festival in May. The suggestion is that volunteers from the various organizations and civic groups in town get together to pick up litter, pull weeds, do some painting, etc. to help get the Main Street Business area spruced up.

The first Clean Sweep will be Saturday, May 12 from 9 to noon. Mike Orr, President of the Williamson Business Improvement District and proprietor of Kings Automotive, will be on hand that day with rakes, garbage bags and any equipment needed for Operation Clean Sweep.

Participants will include The Williamson Business Improvement District, Charrette Steering Committee, Chamber of Commerce, Williamson Rotary Club, REACH Boy Scout Troops 90 & 125, Williamson American Legion Post 394, Williamson Apple Blossom Committee, Williamson Garden Club.

A brief organizational meeting will be held at the Town Offices on Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. to coordinate these efforts. If your organization will be participating in Clean Sweep, please send a representative to the meeting on May 3. Your input will be welcome.
