August blood drives The American Red Cross New York-Penn Region continues to see a decline in blood inventory levels. Summer is traditionally a time when blood donations decline by 10 to 15 percent in part, due to people vacationing. Our region is at a shortfall of 571 units, which equates to about a half day supply. Blood drives are planned, and donors are needed.
Sixteen-year-olds may donate blood provided they bring along an original signed New York State Informed Parental Permission for a 16-Year-Old to Donate Whole Blood. Identification is required at the time of donation to give blood. Copyright
