Seeking students to photograph graveyards
The Wayne County Historical Society Museum will be featuring a High School Photo Exhibit, Necropolis Rising: Cemeteries of Wayne County in their downstairs changing exhibit room in October.
The museum is hoping all Wayne County High Schools will participate and encourage students to send in their photographs.
'I think it will be interesting to see what this generation of students, who have been attending school during some very difficult world conflicts will picture when they visit and photograph our cemeteries,' said Larry Ann Evans, Executive Director of the Museum.
Below are the regulations for entries:
-
Photographs must be of any Wayne County graveyard or tombstone.
-
All Wayne County High School students who are in grades 9-12 (2007-2008 school year) may enter up to three photographs, in color or black and white.
-
Eligible entries must be hard copy photos on photographic paper, matte or glossy.
-
Dimensions of the photo must be either 4 x 6 or 8 x 10.
-
The photo must be framed. Matting can be used with the photograph, the frame can be of any size.
-
Each entry must have the name, address, age of student, and title of the photo clearly printed on a label on the back of the frame.
-
The exhibit will not be juried, entries will be selected by the museum collections committee.
-
All students whose photo was used for the exhibit will be given a certificate for lending their photographs to create this exhibit.
-
Photos do not have to be printed or developed by the students. The only criteria there is that the student take the photograph.
-
Digitally enhanced photos are allowed. We would like the photographs on exhibit to be as varied and creative as possible.
All entries must be received by the Museum by September 25. Photos will be returned to the students when the exhibit closes.
