When I saw the list of needed equipment for the opening of school, I thought of our first day of school, in the olden days, with a pencil and a tablet.

Wonder Bread - for 85 years, American kids have enjoyed PB&J and other lunchtime favorites on fluffy slices of vitamin-enriched Wonder Bread. Today Interstate Bakeries Corp., the baker of Wonder Bread, continues to sell some 127 million loaves a year, making it our nation's most popular white bread.

Does anyone have a recipe for Dutch Ginger Cake?

AUGUST 9, 1939: The annual picnic of former students of Marion Collegiate Institute and High School brought together a number of groups of old schoolmates and friends last Saturday. Dinner was served in the dining room of the Grange Hall following which all adjourned to the shaded lawn.

Sherry and MacKenzie Reiss presented the special music at the August 5 service at the Second Reformed Church. They chose the hymn Broken and Beautiful.

Update on Jennie's House: the painters and movers arrived at 10 a.m. on Tuesday to paint in the kitchen, and move donated furniture upstairs. Those helping were Sue Devlin, Jenny Almekinder, Jill Adriaansen and Priscilla Flock. Thanks!
