House in Sodus Center explodes

house explosion

Firefighters aren't sure what caused a house to explode in Sodus Center around 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20.

They did find a propane tank on the property, at 7365 McMullen Road.

Debris was scattered for several yards in all directions. There did not appear to be any fire connected with the incident. Representatives from an area bottled gas company were on site checking the stove and equipment.

Joy Horton, 73, who lived in this home walked away with just a few bumps and bruises. She lived in the house alone with her cats. She and at least one cat managed to get out of the house safely.
