Newark teachers win award In 1995 the New York State United Teachers Representative Assembly passed a resolution establishing an award that recognizes a local's collective and sustained contributions to community service. Local presidents nominate their local for this recognition by a written description of the locals contributions that have impacted the community. The following list of items of service by Newark Teachers' Association were submitted:
An impartial committee selected the NTA for this award as a result of the community involvement. President Patricia Davidson and First Vice President Mary Beth Holgado, Representative Assembly delegates, accepted the award on behalf of the members at the 2007 Representative Assembly. The Newark Teachers Association continues to take pride in the contributions of its members to the Newark community. Copyright
