Historic Marion building gone Last Friday (August 17, 2007), the steeple-tower was torn down at the Marion Presbyterian Church on North Main Street. Folks gathered on both sides of the street to watch its demise.
This impressive structure was erected in 1911 replacing a stately, white New England-style edifice which had been on the same property. Bystanders talked about having been married in this (crumbling) cement block building. These blocks were made at Marion's Cement Block Factory - once housed on South Union Street. Copyright
