The Marion Class of 2007 dedicated the yearbook to a woman who has touched the lives of many people in her 30-plus years at Marion Central School. She is Ann Taylor, more, affectionately known as: 'Aunt B.' Ann was born in Lyons, daughter of James and Barbara Gibbons. She and her siblings, Tom, Judy and Joy, grew up in Marion. After graduation from Marion in 1955, Mrs. Taylor went to work as a Nurse's Aide at the Barber Hospital in Lyons. On May 3, 1957 she married her husband, Carl Taylor. Together they made their home on Mill Street in Marion where they raised their five children: Jim, Carol, Barb, Bob and Sue. With the brood she had, 'Aunt B' was a stay-at-home Mom who found the time to take in other children to baby-sit while she raised her own. She also found the time to volunteer as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher. While her children were in school, Mrs. Taylor found things too quiet around the house, so she went to work in 1973 as a part-time Library Clerk. It was a perfect job for this avid reader. 'Aunt B' was always at the Public Library, so she figured that she might as well work there. She began subbing at the Marion High School. That led to a part-time job, and in 1976 her full-time position as a beloved Study Hall Aide. Aunt B became more involved in the school community. In the fall, she is the Varsity Club Advisor, running the concession stand at soccer games. In the past you would have seen her working as a timekeeper at soccer games or riding the spectator bus to an away game. In the winter, 'Aunt B' can be seen with her box of tissues, candy and gum at her basketball games, keeping score for the girls and boys basketball teams. In the spring, you can see her outside with her Jr. High Track team, which she has been coaching since 1983. She's been active in her school union, serving as an officer and as a negotiator. Mrs. Taylor has also served on the High School Building Team and the MCS Wellness Team. 'Aunt B' can also be seen chaperoning the senior trip, senior dinner dance, the prom or a lock-in. She enjoys reading a novel or going camping, and spending time with grandchildren, Stephanie, Chad, Keri and Jessica and her great-grandchildren Taylor and Evan. 'Aunt B' is remembered for the love she has for her students and for all the lives she has touched. Copyright
