Honors for Newark Grange member Lorenzo 'Tink' Palmer, a member of Newark Grange #366, received special honors for his 80 years of faithful Grange membership and service. He was given an 80-year membership certificate, a letter of congratulations from the State Grange, signed by New York State Master Bruce Croucher, and a letter of grateful recognition from National Grange Master Bill Steel. This took place at the Blossom View Home in Sodus, where he resides. Until four years ago, Tink attended almost every Grange meeting. He contributed to discussions dealing with policy, service project ideas, etc., plus providing humor at every meeting. He has a reputation for being a master of wit. When Williamson Grange was closing its doors, members of that Grange joined Newark. Tink had been a member in Williamson. He made the journey to Newark to attend almost all meetings and special events. Staying after meetings to play Euchre was a delight for him. Deanna said, 'Celebrating his 80-year membership is a high point in our Grange's year. We all wrote him messages and signed a card for him, to help him remember his special achievement.' Newark Grange meets on Woodlane, the first and third Fridays of each month, at 6:30 p.m. No meeting Labor Day week; next meeting will be September 21. Grange is a family-oriented, value-building organization that quietly supports many community projects and works with other organizations to better our village, county, state, and nation. Copyright
