Marion Mile Race coming It is time to begin preparing for the Marion Mile Race. At 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, runners of all ages and skills will gather across from the Marion Post Office for the start of another exciting race on the familiar downtown course. This race is designed for the involvement of the whole family; you may run, walk, or jog. All skill levels are encouraged to participate. There are categories for juniors (ages 11 and under), teenage boys and girls (Ages 12-18), Adult Men and Women (ages 19-39), and, of course, the infamous Masters categories for men and women over age 39). Families with three generations have been known to participate! A fee of $3 per individual will be charged, with a maximum of $8 for a family of 3 or more. Entrants are also encouraged to bring a canned or boxed food item with them on the day of the race. All money and food will be donated to the Marion Food Pantry. Over $1250 dollars and many boxes of canned goods have been raised for the food pantry since the race began in 1996. Please join the race and help us continue to support this worthwhile cause. The first 130 participants to cross the finish line will receive T-shirts for participating in the race, thanks to the generous donations of our Sponsors. Their names will be printed on the back of the shirts. Marion Art teacher Julie Zeller and her students have designed this year's Marion Mile logo. In addition to the T-shirts, the overall winner and the winners in each category will receive prizes that have been donated by local businesses. Entry forms are available at the Town Hall, the Marion Pharmacy, and the Library. For information on the race, call John Bovet at 926.5217. Copyright
