Children return to school on Wednesday, September 5.

A child's greatest period of growth comes after you've bought new school clothes.

Harley-Davidson - Friends William Harley and Arthur Davidson made their first motorcycle in 1903. Last year, the Milwaukee company sold nearly 350,000 bikes worldwide.

'Best Wishes' to Jake and Marge Haak on the occasion of the 66th wedding anniversary on August 30.

Remember the Chicken BBQ at the Town Park on Friday, September 7 and downtown Marion on Saturday. Fall Festival Day BBQ is sponsored by the Marion Legion Baseball team.

August 29, 1914 - The High School Building is being painted outside and in, water has been piped and sanitary drinking fountain is being installed.

August 23, 1939 - On the day that the School Band goes to Syracuse to play at the State Fair there will be no classes and the faculty will take the census. The date set for the band appearance is Thursday. It will facilitate matters greatly if people with families will have ready a list of all children from birth to 18 years, listing names in full and date of birth.

August 28, 1952 - Sweet corn is 29 cents a dozen at Loblaws.
