Museum, old school open houses

The Newark-Arcadia Museum and the Marbletown School House will be open as part of Muse-Story, an annual holiday open house tour of museums in Wayne County.

The Newark-Arcadia Museum will be open Dec. 2, from noon to 5.

The Arcadia String Quartet will perform. Members include Deborah VanRiper, Bob Wadsworth, Marg Barclay and Mary Smith. The museum will also be decorated with over 20 unique Santa Clauses and more. The museum is located at the corner of High & Mason Sts.

The 1876 Marbletown Schoolhouse will be open Sunday, from 1 to 4.

Featured will be arts & crafts, fresh wreaths, baked goods and more. The schoolhouse is located at the corner of Miller & Marbletown Rds. Admission is free.

The Museum Gift Shop (on High Street, Newark) will be open during regular museum hours, Saturdays, from 1 to 3. You'll want to take a look at the Coverlets ($45), in Williamsburg blue, with 12 scenes of early Newark. There are 2008 calendars, a variety of local history books, 'Back to Life' DVD's, 1950s post cards and more. Shipping is available upon request.
