The Soil & Water Conservation District of Wayne County (SWCD) has completed a record number of drainage improvement projects in Wayne County. The Agricultural Group Drainage Program is sponsored by the Wayne County Board of Supervisors and administered by the SWCD. It is a water management program for existing (natural) and non-existing (engineered) drainage systems. The benefits of this program include; improved drainage on agricultural and residential lands, flood prevention, habitat improvement for wildlife and water quality and environmental improvements by reducing storm water erosion. Another benefit to Wayne County residents is to reduce the impacts of flooding which increases public safety. Thanks to support from the Supervisors and the Farm Bureau, enhanced funding in 2007 has allowed the SWCD to work on the following drainage improvement projects: Fairville Ditch (Town of Arcadia), Bassett-Tamarack Ditch (T. of Butler & Savannah), Bills Road Ditch (T. of Walworth), Farnsworth Road (Marion), Foster Street (Palmyra), Ki-Ham-Law Ditch (Macedon), Melvin Brook II (Galen-Rose), Mink Creek II (Williamson), Quaker Road (Palmyra), Route 31 Ditch (Galen), Second Creek (Sodus), Slyburg Rd. (Butler/Savannah), Wolcott Creek (Wolcott-Huron), Lock Berlin (Galen/Lyons), Route 14 Ditch (Lyons), Kelsey Road Ditch (Rose-Galen), Butler Creek (Butler), Weidrick Road (Macedon), Rotterdam Road Ditch (Sodus), Kelsey Road Ditch II (Galen & Rose), Maxwell Creek IV (Sodus).
