'If you resolve to give up smoking, drinking and loving, you don't actually live longer, it just seems longer.' (Clement Freud) Deb Delyser was the lucky winner of the beautiful quilt offered by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fire Department. This twin bed quilt was created and donated by Sharon Camp, a member of the auxiliary. In Colonial days, housewives had to churn cream into butter, cut sugar from hard ten-pound loaves, sift flour through cloth and beat eggs with twigs in order to make cookies. The marmalades are on the shelf, the fancy breads are in the freezer, and the Christmas cookies are stacked ready for giving and eating. Time to wrap the gifts (from QVC) and to enjoy lunches and tea times with family and friends. Hope you have a Merry Christmas season. December 4, 1947 - Army and Navy recruiting officers will attend the meeting of the American Legion Post tonight at 8. The officers will present Victory Medals and American Defense Medals to those with proper credentials. In 1962, the United States Post Office issued the first Christmas stamp. The results were overwhelming - one billion stamps were sold. Each Christmas since then has had its own unique postage stamp. Copyright
