Make reservations for Dec. 14 luncheon

The Friends of the Newark Public Library will host a book review lunch this Friday, at noon. The lunch costs $4; reservations are required by Wednesday, by calling 331.4370.

Dr. Fred Hicks will be reviewing the life and times of Charles Darwin. He will present a compilation of information from several books.

Dr. Hicks will recommend to those present the books that give the most accurate and readable information on the controversial historic figure from the nineteenth century.

Jean Richards Seymour of Sodus Point was guest speaker in November. She reviewed A Thousand Splendid Suns, written by Khaled Hosseini, who also penned The Kite Runner. Rather than focus on the villain, Seymour told of the plight of mothers and daughters enduring the hardships of life, and disdain of society in Afghanistan.
