Compassion, acceptance taught at Newark school

Since September, Kelley School students have been learning about eliminating prejudice by showing compassion and acceptance.

christmas tree The concept is an offshoot off Rachel's Challenge , whose ideas are being implemented locally and nationwide at high school and middle schools.

As such, whenever Kelley students exhibit behaviors showing compassion and acceptance, their names are being put on red hearts and placed the lighted Tree of Compassion in the school foyer.

Likewise, signs encouraging students to show compassion and acceptance are on the walls throughout the school.
