Museum receives $4000 technology grant

The Museum of Wayne County History has received a grant from Wayne County Community Endowment. The grant is for $4000 and will be used for innovative technological advancements.

The grant will allow the Wayne County Historical Society to purchase 20 iPod Shuffles, to be used for audio tours; buy three holographic displays for the Military Room and purchase one touch screen monitor for use in one of the exhibition rooms.

'With every new electronic innovation, an entire generation of young people are moving farther and farther away from appreciating history using current display formats,' said Executive Director of the Museum, Larry Ann Evans. 'I believe that the museum is making an important transition to catering to the changing needs of visitors, old and young.'

The holograms will be purchased from Holographic Studios in New York City. Holographic Studios was founded and operated by Jason Sapan, who has produced holograms for clients including Mobil Oil, Hewlett Packard, Arista Records, Macy's and Revlon.

This equipment can be used by all visitors to the museum and will be one of a kind in Wayne County.

The Wayne County Community Endowment consists of several funds established at Rochester Area Community Foundation for the benefit of residents of Wayne County. Each year, the Advisory Committee for the Wayne County Community Endowment accepts applications from a variety of organizations serving the charitable needs of the County. For information on the Community Endowment, contact Stefanie Griffin at 585.341.4357.

The Museum is located at 21 Butternut Street, Lyons; 946.4943;
