Missing Sodus

The Super Bowl was great! At the beginning, the Colts fans thought, 'oh nooooo' and then they got going and it was all over for the Bears.

Phil's official forecast last Friday at Gobbler's Knob was for an early spring. Can we really depend on a furry animal to let us know the weather? Fun, but can we really go by that?

Valentine's Day is quickly coming up - another fun day to celebrate. If you don't have a boyfriend or husband, you can still have a Valentine. Your kids make great Valentines and they do like to receive those nice boxes of chocolates (probably more then the boyfriends or hubbies do). Just go right past those gushy cards and to the sections for your parents, siblings and your children. Now, there are so many assortments of gifts they don't really need to include candy. There are all kinds of cute stuffed animals holding hearts, nice coffee cups.

This weekend you could start by making heart shaped sugar cookies. The stores have lots of pretty sprinkles for them. A Valentine cake mix and frosting? (I think it's put out by Pillsbury.) Some pink and red streamers dangling from the doorways. Even some pink, red and white balloons can make the day fun.

From the Sodus Library:

When the Sodus Central Schools close due to extreme weather, the Sodus Free Library is also closed.

The Valentine Chocolate Sale continues today at Sodus Free Library from 10 to 5. All kinds of devilish, delightful, delectable, and downright delicious chocolate treats will be available at reasonable prices. The Koffee Korner will be open for hot chocolate, coffee, tea, and single- serving Valentine goodies.

Tomorrow night is the 2nd Annual Gala Snowflake Ball to benefit the animals of Cracker Box Palace Farm Animal Haven. The formal dinner is at Way Point Fine Food & Spirit (formerly Cutters) in North Rose. (Please share photographs if you get some.)

Sunday is the Chili Blues Family Fest at Papa Joes from 1 to 6. (Again, photos are always welcome.)

Also, be watchin' this site for more details on the GRAND St. Patty's Day Celebration!

At the Kraft Shack in Sodus: JEWELRY MAKING Thurs. Feb. 15, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. You will learn some beading techniques to make a necklace. $20 includes all.

Happy birthday to Lorrie Zone on the 10th.

The next celebration after Valentine's Day is Celebrating the Chinese New Year, then St. Patrick's Day and the biggest celebration of all: SPRING! Then we can all go outside and breath without choking because it's so cold.

Have a great week and think warm thoughts. Do things that are cozy and comforting, like reading together on couch, Movie Day and, of course, game day is always a great way to spend time with the family. Have a nice Valentine's Day. (Oscar is getting his hair cut so he will look cute for his special day. Maybe I can find a heart pillow for him.)
