Sweetheart supper at Sodus Point church

The Sodus Point United Methodist Church will be hosting a Sweetheart Spaghetti Supper on Feb. 16, from 4:30 to 6:30 in the church dining room, Ontario Street, Sodus Point. The cost is $7 adult, $6 senior citizen, children 3-12 $5, and children under 3 free. The menu includes spaghetti and meatballs, Italian bread, salad, apple dessert, coffee, tea, and lemonade.

All profits from this dinner will go to the Maintenance Fund to offset the cost of our recent roof and steeple repairs, which totaled $32,000.

'During one of those many downpours this past summer, it was discovered that our church roof was leaking. We contacted the Jimenez Roofers, who were hired to re-shingle the roof. Once the repairs were started, it was discovered that the steeple was in need of immediate repair. Three of the four support beams were rotten. Although the job posed a danger to the workers, Mr. Jimenez' crew completed all repairs to restore the roof and steeple. We now need to earn money to put back into our maintenance reserve. We would welcome all donations to our steeple fund. We have a food pantry that serves the local area, and we need to maintain this beautiful landmark church, which is 150 years old.'
