Five more golds for Arden Brust Junior Arden Brust (of Newark) turned in another impressive performance as the Bentley College women's swim team took a large step towards capturing a sixth straight team title at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships at the University of New Hampshire. Brust, whose weekend included five gold medals and eight school records, was named the Women's Swimmer of the Meet after leading the Falcons to their team title. During the morning prelims, she teamed with Liza Connolly, Kaitlin Chepeleff and Kristen Thuerk for a school record time of 4:06.80. They better that by five-hundredths of a second in the finals, lowering the standard a total of 3.21 seconds in the two races. Bentley entered Sunday's competion with a lead of 135.5 points over second-place Keene State. The Falcons have a two-day score of 639, Keene State is at 504.5, and Bryant is third in the 21-team field with 386 points. Brust, who won two individual and one relay gold Friday (Feb. 16) while setting four school records, added two more golds to her collection Saturday. She won the 200 yard freestyle in school-record time of 1:59.00. Brust and Connolly also helped Bentley set a school record en route to a victory in the 800 freesytle relay. They (Brust anchored the team) combined with Albertian and for a time of 8:05.82, improving on the former record by 2.08 seconds. Bentley didn't win the 200 medley relay, but still set a school record while finishing second to Keene State. Combining for a time of 1:53.46, the quartet of Brust, Chepeleff, Thuerk and Connolly improved on the record by 1/3 of a second. On the first day of competition, Brust captured gold in two individual events and one relay while breaking school records four times. In the 200 yard backstroke, she posted a winning time of 2:09.00, bettering her time from the 2006 meet by 2.37 seconds. She won the 200 individual medley in 2:14.73 breaking the Bentley record by 0.79 seconds. In the 400 medley relay, Brust led Bentley to victory and a pair of school records. Bentley amassed a total of 881 points while winning seven gold, five silver and seven bronze medals, and setting 12 school records nine events. Copyright
