Special cat needs help

There is a special cat living at the Wayne County Humane Society, and his name is Shadow.

This handsome black cat with yellow eyes was brought to the Humane Society in December and was an immediate favorite of the shelter staff for his gentle, friendly ways. Nobody knew that he had feline diabetes.

Feline diabetes is a disorder in which the body does not produce the proper amount of insulin to maintain the correct blood sugar level. If not regulated the result can be blindness, heart problems or even death.

With a careful diet, regular insulin injections and close monitoring, Shadow will live a long and happy life.

For the person who adopts Shadow, there will be some additional time and cost involved in his care, but Shadow's gentle, affectionate ways will more than repay this small inconvenience. Shadow is approximately five years old, neutered, and front de-clawed.

The Humane Society is asking for your help. Of course finding a home for Shadow is the first priority. If you are interested in meeting Shadow for possible adoption, call the shelter.

If you are not in a position to adopt Shadow but would still like to help, you can make a financial donation towards Shadow's care.
