Marion falls to defending champions

The number three seeded Marion Black Knights dropped a 58-41 decision to defending state champion Campbell Savona at the Chiropractic College last night.

Marion trailed early in the game. Campbell led 17-9 after one period and 30-10 at halftime.

In the third period, Campbell led 44-17. The fourth quarter h was a different story.

Marion scored 24 points in the final period, on the strength of four 3-pointers by Jordan Angie. Jon Brooks (pictured) also nailed a 3-pointer.

strike up a cheer! Brooks scored 14 points in the game, Angie scored 12, while Tim Stanton added 10 points. Marion finished with a 19-5 record. Campbell Savona moves on, with to 21-1 on the year.

Last weekend, the Knights defeated the Cuba-Rushford Greyhounds 68-49 to advance in Class CCC action.

Brooks and Stanton each scored 20 points, and Stanton hauled in 17 rebounds, as Brooks had nine assists. Jeremiah VanDorp scored 15 for the Knights.
