New Year's Baby at Newark-Wayne

Pictured in a handmade 2007 stocking is Angel Gabriel Castaneda Acevedo, the first baby of 2007 born at the Birthing and Women's Care Unit at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

He is the son of Deyanira Acevedo and Gabriel Castaneda, of Newark, pictured with him.

Angel Gabriel was born at 3:17 a.m. on January 1, weighing 8 lbs. and 1 oz. The obstetrician who delivered Angel is Dr. Ambalavanar Somaskanda.

Angel and his parents were given gifts from the nurses at the Birthing Center, the Hospital Auxiliary and Volunteers, and the hospital, including a beautiful gift basket of baby items, a beautiful dish garden and more.
