Wegmans Collects 41,000 Toys

Wegmans shoppers in New York and Pennsylvania gave with their hearts again - by donating more than 41,000 toys valued at $500,000 to local organizations who gave them to families in need.

Sixty-one Wegmans stores participated in 2006, which was the 20th anniversary of Wegmans holiday toy collection program.

'One of our values as a company is to make a difference in the communities we serve. This program exemplifies our customers generosity and truly makes a difference in many lives,' said Linda Lovejoy, Wegmans community relations manager.

'The reason were able to collect so many toys is due in part to our store employees. They put a lot of effort into building creative displays that encourage both customers and employees to give generously.'
