'Never eat more than you can lift.'

Happy New Year! On Jan. 1 the family came to our house to watch football, put together jigsaw puzzles, eat and eat again. I got to try some new recipes; this was a fun time with the grandchildren.

Work is progressing at 'Jennie's House.' Under 2006's budget and planning, carpet has been installed in the front entrance hall, the stairs leading to the second floor and in the upstairs hallway.

Another project was new linoleum in the kitchen, in anticipation of the complete renovation of this room in 2007.

A candlelight vigil was organized by neighbors and friends on the front lawn of Mark and Brenda Passmore's home dedicated to their two sons, Matt and Ben who were killed in an automobile crash. Police report Ben had stopped at the red flashing light at the intersection of Walworth-Marion Road and Route 21 and then proceeded east into the path of a southbound tractor trailer. It was Matt's 16th birthday and the boys were returning home from shopping.

January 17, 1946 - Veterans of World War I and II voted to organize as an American Legion Post and to make application for a charter at a meeting held last Thursday.

Marion Historic Association meeting on Tuesday, January 16 at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building. We'll be filling in the offices of the association for 2007. If you have questions, please call 926.4436.

Clark and Helen Dingman of 3355 Cory Hill Road enjoyed the Broadway show Wicked and the bright lights of New York City with their children, December 19-23. Joining Clark and Helen in New York were sons Stephen of San Antonio, Texas; Paul of Rochester; and daughter Patricia Ellis of Austin, Texas and granddaughters Tarra, McKenzie, and Devon. A niece, Susan Meyers of Macedon, also attended. They visited Ground Zero, site of the former World Trade Center. The grandchildren ice skated in Central Park and the entire group marveled at the holiday scene at Rockefeller Center. While some enjoyed the relative quiet of walking through historic Washington Square Park and Greenwich Village others delighted in shopping and the creative window displays in Macy's.
