Original Lassie film at Lyons Library The second film in the Lyon Public Library's Child Stars of the Silver Screen series, is the original 'Lassie Come Home' from 1943. The movie will be shown Sat., Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. Starring a young Roddy McDowall and, in a supporting role, an even younger Elizabeth Taylor, the movie is the story of a collie's effort to return to her original owners after being sold to a rich landowner. Both McDowall and Taylor would go on to successful and long careers as adults, working in films, theater and television. However, a dynasty was started by the unknown collie named Pal that was portraying the title character. Through many movies and two TV series, a direct descendant of Pal has always played Lassie, probably the most beloved animal actor ever. This program is free and registration is not required. Popcorn and hot cocoa will be served. For more information call the library at 315-946-9262. Copyright
