Newark basketball player Alyssa Fenyn reached a big milestone in school history Friday, becoming the fourth girl in basketball history to reach the 1000 point plateau. Fenyn is only a sophomore; Coach Kirnie presented her the game ball. The other Lady Reds reaching 1000 points are LaTanya Parker, Katie Burgess and Amanda Baker. Fenyn has the rest of this season and the next two years to add to this incredible total. She reached the mark on her first shot of Friday's game, hitting a 3-pointer vs. the Midlakes Screaming Eagles. Newark went on to win 55-44. Fenyn had 20 points in the game, 17 in the first half. The Reds improved to 13-0 with a 63-59 win at Pittsford Sutherland. Last season these teams met in the Sectionals; Newark lost the game 57-56 after being ahead by 15 points. Marissa Bunce scored 18 points and hit four 3-pointers. Fenyn added 12 points, nine rebounds and six steals. Shakista Woolfolk added 11 points and seven rebounds. Jackie Loson had seven rebounds. Newark is ranked #4 in the NYS polls. Copyright
