The Wayne County Historical Society's Museum's latest fundraiser is a 13-month, 2008 calendar featuring 14 'mature' men from Wayne County, posing shirtless behind museum artifacts.

The Hottest Antiques in Wayne County debuted at the Museum booth at Peppermint Days in the park in Lyons. The price of the calendar is $14.95 plus tax and is also on sale at the museum gift shop, museum website and Dobbins Drug Store in Lyons; in Clyde at the Clyde Library and in Savannah at the Main Street Restaurant. More locations will are being added; call the museum for more details.

Newark Photographer Karl Joyce of New Dimensions donated his services to this worthy project that Larry Ann Evans hopes to be a successful fundraiser for the museum.

Evans said that the fundraiser was the brainstorm of Museum Manager Mary Erle. 'It's Marys baby, and I left Mary to have the totally fun job of being with the photographer, the artifacts and the men!'

Almost every town in Wayne County is represented. 'Mary worked hard trying to get at least one man from every town,' said Evans, who went on to say that the only town not included is Palmyra. 'And that wasn't for lack of trying,' said Evans. '...Now that the calendar is out and they see that its so much fun, Im sure someone will want to do it next time.'

The calendar guys are:

  • January - Bud Irish, Sodus
  • February - Phil Paliotti, Lyons
  • March - Jim Ryan, North Rose
  • April - Al Caster, Butler
  • May - Peter Evans, Williamson
  • June - Louis Piacente, Ontario
  • July - Burt Ford, Newark
  • August - Robert Mead, Clyde
  • September - Kent Marshall, Wolcott
  • October - Stan Herdman, Newark
  • November - Bruce Waterman, Savannah
  • December - Dave Keukelaar, Macedon
  • January 09 - Mike Fonte Jr., Marion

'The men in the calendar have been asking after it for weeks, with rosy red cheeks. I think they wanted to buy up a few copies,' Evans noted with a twinkle in her eye.

The calendar was sponsored by: Lyons Oil Supply, Dobbins Drugs, Old Lyons Hardware, Joe Mitchell Auto Brokers, Ely & Leene, Santelli Lumber, Gerald Burnham Upholstery, Dobbins Painting and Contracting, Red Rooster and Krenzer Marine.
