Happenings Is there anything going on in Marion or is everyone at the cottage? Congratulations to Ted and Marilyn LeClair on the occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary. It's time to pick your currants and make jelly for gift giving. Early Marion, July 11, 1914: The 4th of July celebration at Marion was very successful. The weather was perfect and no accident occurred to mar the pleasure of the day. The fourth was ushered in at midnight by the ringing of church bells and firing of cannon, which was kept up till nearly daylight. July 16, 1942: The cut-off of vegetable oils from the Far East, plus the increasing need for fats and oils for the allies, makes it necessary to save all waste kitchen fat. Judy White provided the special music at the morning worship services at the Second Reformed Church on July 15.
