Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

This weekend there are lots of fun things to do. Are the kids driving you nutty yet? Always try to stay ahead of them and have something for them to do.

Tonight is the Pet Parade, Ice Cream Social & Street Dance in Sodus. Dress up your pet, your kids, and yourself in your favorite theme costume and join the fun in the annual Sodus Chamber of Commerce/Cracker Box Palace Pet Parade - all pets are welcome! Registration begins at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the United Methodist Church on Main Street in Sodus. Parade is at 7. Pets must be ridden, on a lead, in a cage, or otherwise contained (like in a wagon). Dogs must have a current rabies certificate. Horses must have current rabies and coggins certificates. Parade is on Main Street in the Village of Sodus. Prizes for all.

Then tomorrow and Sunday is the Olde Tyme Country Faire. Arts & crafts vendors, non-profit food vendors, business vendors will be setup on Saturday and Sunday at Oscar Fuerst Field in downtown Sodus Point. Sodus Point Lighthouse concert will be in the park on Sunday afternoon. 9 a.m. to 5.

On Sunday, July 22 - Lighthouse Concert: Bourbon Street Jazz Band and Annual Ice Cream Social. Concerts are Free. Donations welcome. Seating not provided. Picnics welcome. Food and beverages sold by Museum Food Line. At Sodus Point from 1 to 3.

We have always enjoyed going to all of the events this time of year, although it's almost as if we moved and the town got busier.

July 25-28: Sodus Firemen Field Days: Firemen Parade, vendors, rides, music and more!

How many parades could anyone take in a week's time? I'm not sure if my kids really wanted to be in the kiddie parades. (Hey, I had the clown wig so I felt I should use it.)

Also tomorrow is the MDA Bake sale: cakes, cookies, brownies, fudge, cupcakes, etc. All proceeds will go to MDA. The sale will be held outside Paton's Market place.

(Last time I saw Debbie Wright her kids were hopping for MDA and having a lot of fun raising money for it.)
