Volunteers will arrive in Lyons

Adult volunteers for the 2007 Group Workcamp will be commissioned during the worship service at The First Presbyterian Church of Lyons on July 29.

These volunteers will be working with approximately 380 young people from all over the country, who will be arriving in Lyons later that day. The young people will be staying in the Lyons High School and are coming to this area to assist low-income, elderly and handicapped homeowners by doing simple renovations and repairs.

The local coordinators for the Group Workcamp are Kris and Dick VanDerlinde of Lyons. The Vanderlindes have been working for approximately two years, to coordinate the hosting arrangements and recruit local volunteers.

The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Huling will commission the camp volunteers. She will also preach at the service. Her sermon is titled, 'Clothe Yourself in Love.' The service begins at 9 a.m.
