Mayor Peter Blandino designated it Make Someone Smile day in Newark. Through this national event sponsored by Teleflora, many people received mugs and flowers.

The event began at the Hospital. Members of the Chamber of Commerce helped with delivery of the flowers, along with the mayor and village trustees. At the Hospital and DeMay, Auxilians and volunteers helped.

Board member florists from Tonawanda to Pulaski took van loads of arrangements to the hospital, DeMay Living Center, Newark Manor and Wayne County Nursing home.

'Make Someone Smile' The event, which began seven years ago, has grown to include 350 cities throughout the United States and Canada and involves 2500 florists.

Teleflora is donating 47,000 Happy Mugs to member florists, who will work with local wholesalers and growers to secure flower donations.

Teleflora will contribute 10% of each purchase through July 28 to the Fisher House Foundation, which donates comfort homes on the grounds of military and Veterans Association medical centers.
