ViaHealth Golf Classic coming

The 50th Anniversary ViaHealth of Wayne Foundation Golf Classic Tournament will be hosted by Meteorologist Richard McCollough from WHAM 13 News.

This will be Monday, August 20 at Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club in Sodus Point.

This 16th Annual ViaHealth of Wayne (VOW) Foundation Golf Tournament will be played in the scramble format. It is the only tournament the Foundation will host this year. For the best tee-off times, early registration is highly recommended.

A special drawing for a large SONY 50-inch flat screen TV is being held for anyone interested in supporting the Foundation. The tournament is one of several events included in Newark-Wayne Community Hospital's year-long celebration of its 50th Anniversary of caring for the people of Wayne County and the Finger Lakes Region. Proceeds of the tournament will benefit the programs and services of the Hospital and DeMay Living Center.

Another means of supporting the tournament includes Gold, Silver and Bronze levels of sponsorship, as well as Hole and Cart sponsorships. They are all available to individuals, businesses and hospital departments.

Registration and lunch begin at 11, and a shotgun start is scheduled for noon. Included in the days events are a social hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Raffle prizes and awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and the longest drive will be given out during the dinner.

Concord Ford Lincoln Mercury of Newark is sponsoring its Hole-in-One contest for a 2007 Mercury Milan, a contest it has sponsored for the past 16 years.

Members of the committee include: Nan VanEe, Committee Chair; Vivian Eaton; Robert Proseus; Frank Petrosino; Barb Neumann; Dr. Bradley Simmons; Dr. Dong-Gi Hong; Dr. Michael Jordan; Cheryl DeMeyers; and Dave Lagana.

To register for the tournament, contact the Foundation Office at 332.2323. To purchase tickets for the drawing for the TV at $5 each or three for $10, stop by the Foundation Office at Newark Hospital or Ruffalo's Appliance at 217 South Main Street in Newark.
