Newark Jazz Ensemble invited to Rochester

The Newark High School Jazz Ensemble will be one of 16 high school jazz bands from the region chosen to perform during the upcoming, eight-day Rochester International Jazz Festival.

The NHS Jazz Ensemble will perform on the Jazz Street Stage, corner of Gibbs Street and East Avenue June 9 from 5:15-5:45 p.m.

This is the first time this group has been invited to perform in this festival and they are very excited, according to Ensemble Director Dave Schwind.

The Rochester International Jazz Festival, one of the nation's fastest growing music festivals, runs from June 8-16. Music fans can enjoy more than 600 musicians performing in 220 plus concerts.

The Festival is presented in four series and held in 18 venues in and around the East End Cultural District in downtown Rochester.
