Today we had to say goodbye to yet another pet. Our cat Angel, who was fourteen this year, had gotten ill and we had to take him to the vet this morning. There was no more fixing or home-doctoring, he just wasn't getting better. While at the vet, we found out that he had a series of tumors in the lining of his stomach so there was nothing else to do but have him put to sleep. He looked so sad laying on the table, but he was really sick and suffering. Through the years, Angel was always a character - sat in boxes too small, hid under the Christmas Tree. We will miss him, but we also know he is better off. He just wasn't able to get better. We have our memories and lots of pictures to keep him alive in our hearts. The rainstorm, though it was a rough one, definitely made the plants happy. They got lots of water they needed. So, we got away with a day without watering which was nice and the weather cooled off which was also nice. From the Sodus Free Library: Grant Books Received - Newark's Lifetime Care received a grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to purchase books for Wayne and Seneca County libraries. Books were given at a lovely 'book brunch' last week. Thank you to all the staff at Lifetime Care involved in this grant; we appreciate the opportunity to expand our collection on this important topic.
The lirbaries should be starting their summer reading programs soon, so watch for the time to register. Teens and adults can be a part of the reading programs as well. At the Williamson Library there are summer hours now, so be sure to call ahead to see when they will be. The Get A Clue Program:

There will be Graduation Fireworks tomorrow night on North Road in Sodus. The public is invited to watch at 9:30 p.m. Congratulations to all the grads! At the Sodus Yacht club: EYC REGATTA AT SBYC, July 11-14 - From Wednesday, July 11 through Saturday, July 14, the Sodus Bay Yacht Club will host the annual EYC regatta, featuring multiple daily course races. This annual international regatta is hosted by a different Eastern Yachting Circuit member each year, alternating between U.S. and Canadian clubs. EYC clubs from the U.S. include Sodus Bay, Fair Haven, Oswego, Selkirk, Henderson Harbor, and Chaumont, while Canadian clubs include Brockville, Kingston, Collins Bay, Picton and Belleville. Enjoy your week no matter what you do. Try to stay ahead of the kids. Schedule things for them to do to keep them busy, right down to their snacks so you don't run out early. The Libraries have nice reading programs so, if you can, register in one or both of them. I used to get my kids into both. They did a lot of reading those years. Try to make time for an outside storytime. Gather up some books in a tote bag or a basket, something to drink and dog toys for the pooch and spend some alone time in the fresh air. Storytime outside is always a nice treat, birds in the background, breeze in your hair. Have fun! Copyright
