Celebrate at the Point Thursday

With the smooth sounds of the celebrated jazz band, Paradigm Shift, setting the mood, close to 250 supporters, partners and friends will celebrate the rich history of Newark-Wayne Community Hospital (NWCH) providing for the health care needs of the people of Wayne County and the Finger Lakes Region for the last 50 years. The early evening celebration, from 6 - 8 p.m., will be held under tents on the beautiful sprawling lawns of Sodus Bay Historical Society's lighthouse on Thursday, June 28. The event will feature a photo exhibit documenting Newark-Waynes history prior to opening its doors on April 1st, 1957 though current times. Casual evening attire is suggested.

Over its 50 year history, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital has been fortunate to have a strong base of community support, which continues through today. The current hospital was founded by a core group of physicians from the former Doctors Hospital in Newark. With the support of local business men and women, including a group of women who formed the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary, the hospital opened in 1957. Through all of this on-going support, Newark-Wayne has undergone several major building projects to reflect the changing needs of the community.
