Missing Sodus

We need the weather to choose a nice, comfortable middle temperature - maybe low 80s. I go out at nine in the morning and the tomatoes are screaming they need WATER and fast. And speaking of water, make sure you stay hydrated. They say that when you feel thirsty you've already started becoming dehydrated, so keep drinking. It was funny the other day at the greenhouse, a lady was kidding and said she was drinking her water faithfully but she was also heading to the bathroom everywhere she went.

Congratulations to all of the Graduates! We had ours in 2005 and we'll have another one in a couple of years. It is an exciting time for everyone. Job well done!

Let's take a look at what kinds of fun events are scheduled for the weekend. (It's almost the Fourth of July!)

  • On the 3rd there is the Annual Lighthouse Kiddie Costume parade at l0 a.m.
  • July 3: Fireworks, Village of Sodus Point, 9:30.
  • July 4th Breakfast on the Bluff, sponsored by The Sodus Recreation Committee. At the old Sodus Point Lighthouse Park, come spend the morning enjoying a stack of pancakes, eggs, fruit, sausage and beverage. Breakfast will be served 7 - 11. Adults $6.50, 55+ $5.50, Youths $4.
  • The 5K Run is 7:30 - l0:30; arts and crafts show and sale 10-4; and from 2-4, Gap Mangione.

The Sodus Point Lighthouse Museum will have free admission.

From the Sodus Free Library:

Carol would like you to come visit the tree - Tilia x europaea. Stop by the Library this week to enjoy the wonderfully fragrant blossoms of the beautiful European Linden in the front yard.

Depending on the weather, the blossoms won't last long, so pull into our parking lot when you're going by. This is too good to miss!

(I'm glad Carol mentioned it because I have come to the Library for years and didn't notice the tree though I probably smelled the fragrance and wondered what it was. Now, I know.)

Enjoy your weekend and your 4th of July week. Have fun with your families and friends. Don't forget to sign up for the fun Summer Reading programs at the libraries. And, I find that, during the summer, I always forget to send out birthday cards, send them out early so you don't forget. (Now, we'll see if I take my own advise or whether my brother is getting yet another belated card.)
