Missing Sodus As the snow storms come and go, more snow piles up and we look longingly for the sunshine...spring is on the way. March is coming in like a lamb, or so we've been told. What does that mean going out? 'In like a lion, out like a lamb.' Does it stay like that? Or if it comes in like a lamb, does it go out like a lion? Heaven forbid! Speaking of facing winter, Lorrie Zone, her son Cody, and her sister Ruthie Downey went to San Fransisco for winter break. The temperatures were about 62, which is probably cold for the people who live there, but warm to people from here. It must have been tough to come back into winter. They returned last Saturday. Well, at least they have all of their warm pictures to look through. They had a wonderful time. March 12, is the 95th anniversary of Girl Scouting in the United States. During Girl Scout Week, March 11-17, Girl Scouts across the country will take part in community service activities and good deeds of their choosing. The Sodus/Sodus Point Girl Scouts will be conducting a food drive to benefit The Backpack Buddies Program. When there are long breaks away from school, this program provides lunches for Sodus Elementary children who may not otherwise get a nutritious lunch at home. The school day before the break, students receive backpacks full of non-perishable, kid-friendly food items. After the break, the children bring the empty backpacks back to school. On March 10, the Sodus Scouts will be distributing blue door hangers to area homes announcing the food drive. On March 17, the Girl Scouts will come back to pick up the donations. If you don't get a blue door hanger & would like to contribute to the food drive, there will be a booth at Paton's Marketplace on March 17 from 10 to 1. Suggested food items are: peanut butter & jelly in plastic jars, granola bars, microwaveable pasta/soup/stew bowls, fruit cups, and individually wrapped snacks, cookies, or chips. If you would like more information about the Sodus/Sodus Point Girl Scout Food Drive, contact Paula Torres at 483.4261. March 10 is the 2nd Annual Murder Mystery Dinner sponsored by the Lioness Club of Sodus. Money raised will help to fund community projects throughout the year, such as: Scholarships, ARC events, Blossom View Christmas and Victorian Tea, Breakfast with Santa. Call 315.483.6774 for more information. Not a lot going on... a good time to get those curtains down and washed, do some spring cleaning because, when the nice weather comes, who wants to be inside cleaning?! Have a good week and enjoy each other's company. Spring's coming...yes!
