The top-seeded Newark Lady Reds basketball team will attempt to claim up the Class A title on Monday at the Blue Cross Arena. Newark (23-0) will play the School of the Arts Silverhawks (18-2) March 5, at 5 p.m. The Reds, coached by Diane Kirnie, reached this championship game thanks in part to the outstanding play of sophomore Alyssa Fenyn, who scored a career-high 35 points including five 3-pointers in the second quarter of yesterday's game. Newark defeated the defending state champion Pittsford Sutherland team 80-64 at Victor High School yesterday. Newark trailed 20-19 after the first period but scored 27 points in the second period to lead 46-31 at halftime. Fenyn pulled down 14 rebounds, while Shakista Woolfolk scored 18 points and had seven rebounds. Marissa Bunce added nine points; Kristin MacBride (pictured) scored seven. School of the Arts is ranked number four in the state in the Class A polls. Copyright
