Missing Sodus Last weekend, we were going to attend the Petco fashion show to see what it was all about. It sounded like a fun idea. We walked in and there were pink and white helium balloons were everywhere. Cute plastic Margarita glasses were filled with treats for the dogs, who were a part of the event. A friendly man said to fill out a form and I did. The next thing I knew, my daughter said, 'Oscar doesn't have a leash.' I, of course, panic and we got my long silver necklace hooked through his collar just before they called his name. Good thing he was dressed. He had on a pink polo shirt. It was a lot of fun. Next year, we will go and actually enter the right way and have his leash. My daughter made him a jacket, so next year, he will be wearing fashions by 'Rachel.' We haven't told him he's going to do it again. Soon, it'll be St. Patrick's Day... in fact, next Saturday the 17th. That day, the Irish will be sportin the green, eatin' the corned beef and cabbage, everything that can be dyed green will be. Have you noticed that on St. Patrick's day almost everyone comes up with a percentage of their heritage that is from mother Ireland herself? I, myself, with the maiden name of Malone, have quite a lot of Irish (blarney) blood running through me veins. Dig out your favorite Corned Beef and cabbage recipe. The leftovers can be sandwiches or shredded and fried up with eggs fro breakfast. The corned beef is the time consuming part of the meal and the cabbage takes little time. Some like mustard on it. Not me. I'm not a mustard-type of person. Butter works well for my cabbage. One of my favorites for dessert is bread pudding. Reason enough to celebrate St. Patrick's Day! Let me know if you attend the Annual Murder Mystery Dinner this weekend. The fundraiser is sponsored by the Lioness Club of Sodus. (Sharing photographs is always welcome.) Irish Blessings:
May you always have Did you know the city of Chicago has a unique tradition of coloring the river water green. It started in 1962 when 100 pounds of green vegetable dye were added to the river, enough to keep it green for a week. The tradition has continued, but now, 40 pounds of a green food coloring keep the river green for only a few hours. So, enjoy your weekend, bake a cake for the special day and frost it with green frosting. The stores are filled with decorations, or you can make your own shamrocks out of construction paper and hang them in the windows and on the doors. And may the luck of the Irish be with ya. Have a good week. Enjoy each other's company and keep thinking warm thoughts. And during the week, you can come up with more fun things to do for St. Patty's day next Saturday
