Discover Lyons: presentation at The Ohmann Don't miss an illustrated slide talk on Monday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in the historic Ohmann Theatre. The Lyons Heritage Society sponsors this event, as part of their community outreach programs. Cynthia Howk, Architectural Research Coordinator with the Landmark Society of Western New York, will be the presenter. Americans are proud of their heritage. Historic properties: buildings, structures, objects and sites are the tangible links with the past that help provide a sense of identity and stability. Many communities recognize the value and diversity of their rich heritage by protecting their important historic resources, ranging from buildings and districts to landscapes and archeological sites. By looking at the buildings in your own neighborhood you will learn about the history that surrounds you and discover that every community has an important story to tell through its buildings. Why is that church so old? Was that house really a tavern? How come the mill is next to a canal? Is the barn really a landmark? Get to know your community a little better... where it came from and where it is going - by taking an 'arm-chair' tour of Lyons' historic architecture The program is free and open to the public.
