Jamboree to Benefit Sovie Family There will be a jamboree at the Wallington Fire Department on Sunday, March 25 to raise funds to help out Mark and Darlene Sovie of Sodus, NY. The Sovie's home was recently condemned because of the toxic black mold that spread throughout their house. The family has incurred major medical expenses asssociated with their exposure to the toxic mold. The Sovies have lost everything: their home and its contents - furniture, appliances and clothing. The Sovies purchased their home through HUD and their home passed the required inspections prior to closing. The Sovies have found themselves in a 'Catch-22' situation. Their insurance company isn't covering the problem, because the mold is considered a pre-existing condition. HUD isn't assisting because the house was purchased 'as is.' But their friends and neighbors are assisting and have stepped forward to organize the jamboree to help the family. All of the proceeds of the Wallington jamboree will go to the Sovies to help them rebuild their lives and their dreams. Steve Wickman of Sodus will MC the event. Wickman was recently inducted into the NY State Country Music Hall of Fame in Cortland, NY and is known regionally as an exceptional entertainer and musician. He will be joined on the stage by Hank Kuehl of Seneca Falls. The National Image band and the House Rockers band will appear on stage as well. The bands will be playing classic country, rock, easy listening music and more. All the performers have donated their time. Come to dance or just tap your toes. The $10 cover charge includes food and beverages. Children under 12 are free. There will be many door prizes including prizes for children. The jamboree will run from 1 to 7. The event is being organized by the Sodus Fire Department and Ambulance Corps, where the Sovies are members - but is being held at the Wallington Fire Department on Ridge Road off of Route 104.
