Bell Concert in Lyons

Finger Lakes Bronze, Inc. will present 'Images in Sound,' a concert of handbell music at the Ohmann Theatre, 65 William St., Lyons, on Sunday, April 1 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $7, students/seniors $5.

Hear the sounds of four octaves of chimes, and five octaves of Schulmerich handbells. The group will accompany violinist, Jovaialis Gricious, who teaches at St. Peter's Academy in Geneva.

Founded in 2000 by Judith Treisback and Marjorie Fahrenholz, the Finger Lakes Bronze, Inc. is a not-for-profit community handbell organization. This group performs throughout the Finger Lakes area, and holds handbell and director workshops.

Treisback is a graduate of Lyons High School. Her father, Bob Resue, was a music teacher at Lyons for many years. She received her degree in music from the Crane School of Music and has taken master classes in handbells from Westminster Choir College. She began ringing and directing handbells in 1987, and started solo ringing in 1988. She directs the three bell choirs at the Geneva Presbyterian Church.

Members of this group are from Canandaigua, Seneca Falls, Macedon, Palmyra, Dundee, Geneva, Lyons, and Waterloo.

A concert will be presented at Penn Yan United Methodist Church, Main and Chapel Streets on Friday, March 30, at 7:30. Freewill donations accepted.
