Ecumenical Sewing Project in Lyons

There will be an Ecumenical Sewing Project at The First Presbyterian Church of Lyons on Friday, May 4 from 8:30-11:30. The coordinator of the event is Mrs. Leslie Leo of Lyons. Her goal is to make 400 different patchwork pillowcases. The pillowcases will be given to each participant in the 'Group Workcamp.'

Those coming to the sewing project should bring scissors, thread, pins, and any scrap material. All are welcome.

The Lyons Presbyterian Church is located at 11 Queen Street at the corner of Broad. For more information on the sewing circle, please call Mrs. Leo at 315.946.4103. For directions to the church, please call the office at 315.946.4723.

The Group workcamp is a week-long Christian mission camp for youth and is sponsored by the Inter-Church Council of Lyons. Young people will be coming to Lyons on July 29 from all over the United States to serve in Lyons and neighboring communities. The young people (under supervision of adults) will be doing painting, and building ramps and porches for those who have been identified and selected as having a special need. The criteria for selection are that the individual be elderly, handicapped or needy. Those interested in applying for consideration should contact Kris or Dick Vanderlinde for an application 315.946.6522 as soon as possible. Applications need to be in to the Vanderlindes by May 11.
